At Developments in Literacy (DIL) we respect your privacy. The following statement details our practices related to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information:

ACCOUNTABILITY: DIL is fully accountable for all practices related to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. All personal information management practices are disclosed in this Privacy Policy.

COMPLAINTS: If you wish to file a complaint as to our compliance with our Privacy Policy, please contact us at office@dil.org. DIL takes your privacy complaints very seriously, so please be clear and detailed as to all facts related to your complaint.

LIMITED COLLECTION: The personal information collected by the Feedback and Registration Form and the Donation Form (optional if you elect to make a financial donation), is limited to that which is necessary to fulfill the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy. No additional information is collected, directly or indirectly

  • Send you information from DIL. If you do not wish to receive any of this information, please exercise your Opt-Out right by DIL
  • Contact you in the event of a necessary communication exchange requested by you or initiated by DIL. No Opt-Out right is available given the explicit requirement for DIL to contact you, for example, to provide you with a donation confirmation.
  • The Donation Form collects payment information (e.g. cardholder name, address, credit card number, expiry date) required in-order to process a donation requested by you. Personal information in aggregate form, that is not personally identifiable, may be used for analytical or statistical purposes only.

LIMITED USE, DISCLOSURE AND RETENTION: Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose other than stated in this Privacy Policy, except only with your explicit consent or as required by law. Your personal information will not be sold or transferred to any other third party under any circumstances. Your personal information will only be retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes defined, or as required by law.

ACCESS: The personal information collected by DIL is limited to what you have provided directly. No additional personal information is collected through any other source.

ACCURACY: The accuracy of your personal information is governed by the accuracy of the information you provided at the time of collection. DIL does not verify the accuracy of the personal information you provide, other than that which is provided for payment purposes. At the time you entered your personal information you were requested to verify the information for accuracy. DIL and its sponsors are not responsible for any errors or problems that arise as a result of inaccurate information provided by you. SECURITY SAFEGUARDS: DIL will protect your personal information by appropriate security safeguards. Your personal information transmissions, including your payment information, will be encrypted. Appropriate information security measure will be in place to safeguard your personal information during storage and use.

INFORMED CONSENT: The statements made in this Privacy Policy constitute a complete and unambiguous disclosure of all personal information collection, use and disclosure practices to be conducted by DIL. Your access to the web site, www.DIL.org, and your request to make a donation constitute your informed consent and acceptance with these stated personal information practices.

“EMAIL THIS PAGE”: If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend’s name and e-mail address. DIL will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site. Email addresses collected will not be captured or used for any other purpose.

LINKS: Our site links to other sites whose information practices may be different from ours. Visitors should consult the other sites’ privacy notices they are not covered by our privacy policy.

LOG FILES: Like most standard web site servers we use log files. This includes IP addresses, browser type, ISP (internet service provider), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

COOKIES: DIL website makes use of “cookies.” These expire as soon as the user closes all browser windows.

OPT-OUT: Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter may opt-out of receiving these communications by following the instructions at the bottom of the newsletter. Users may also unsubscribe by selecting “Unsubscribe” on the bottom of the e-newsletter.
